Wild Ideas - Engineered to Perform
Concussion Garage was built around a simple idea: the wildest swaps in car culture deserve a real home. We started this brand because we’ve always been obsessed with the beautiful wrongness of pairing classic American lines with Japanese engineering—especially when that engineering starts with a 2JZ. To us, a pro-touring muscle car or a time attack monster with a 2JZ powertrain and an AWD drivetrain isn’t a bad idea — it’s the whole point. The kind of combination some people would dream up after a mild concussion is exactly what we’re here for: bold builds, unconventional thinking, and performance-first machines that challenge tradition and frustrate purists in all the right ways. The 2JZ has long been celebrated for its strength and tuning headroom, which is exactly why it became the foundation of our vision.
Our first build sets the tone. It’s a 1971 Plymouth Scamp — a 2JZ-swapped pro-touring machine that was originally configured with a Megasquirt ECU more than 14 years ago and is now being pushed into its final chapter with a fully built 1,200+ horsepower-capable 2JZ. It’s a Pacific Coast Highway cruiser backed by a fully built A340E automatic transmission, but it’s also designed to get serious when the road turns aggressive and conditions heat up, with a custom engineered liquid C02 cooling system for the liquid-air intercooler and a custom autocross suspension built by Bergman Auto Craft. It’s equal parts statement piece and engineering exercise, and it tells you everything you need to know about how we approach a build.
And we’re just getting started. While the Scamp is being wrapped up and wired for its final stages, another 2JZ is already in motion for an AWD 1973 Plymouth Duster. This one won’t be built for cruising — it’s being shaped into a time attack gremlin with its sights set on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, where cars take on one of the most demanding hill climbs in motorsport. If you want to see where this all is headed, check out the renderings on the site. Concussion Garage exists for the builds that shouldn’t work on paper, but absolutely do when they’re engineered the right way.
All of the product sold as part of Concussion Garage is to help bring awareness to our brand and is sold at cost. We want it to always remain affordable and different than what you would find elsewhere. Cool shit should always be accessible and never burn your wallet.

History
This car started off as the build of a friend named Dave in Detroit Michigan - it was a cool way to bring together Japanese and American Car Culture groups. The car started as a junkyard save and the 2JZ was swapped into it from an old Aristo. Dave had the whole car up and running off of a Megasquirt ECU and custom GPIO for trans control. The car has come a long way since its debut in Grassroots Motorsports Magazine and Power Tour but the purpose is unchanged - bring together the best of everything we love about cars and turn it into something that is well engineered and fun as hell.

1973 Plymouth Duster
History
This is the 1973 Duster Time Attack project that has everyone excited. Not only are we going to put one of our 2JZs in this, were going to mate it to a sequential transmission, custom transfer case and make it All Wheel Drive! Just the windshield and body panels will be the only thing remaining that makes this recognizable as a Duster. Most MOPAR fans give their bias to the pre-1973 Duster with the flatter nose. We're going to bring some needed love to the post '72 era Duster and make it an absolute autocross and time attack menace. The team spent a long time picking a perfect platform for this build and we cant wait to share it once finished. The engine is currently getting built and a one-off test stand is being built to test out the AWD conversion before we configure a custom coilover suspension system around it.

History
If you found this site and are not familiar with "Old Smokey" from Chuckles Garage then you've been living under a rock and need to open up Google Search. That build made a lasting impression on the automotive community and clearly motivated us at Concussion Garage to come up with our version. Who doesn't want to see a 1940's era frame carve up the road and run boost levels that push engineering limits? Once the AWD system is proven out on the Duster, we plan on bringing the same drivetrain to this build and taking on the challenge of weight distribution, cooling, aero, suspension, and overall space constraints that didn't necessarily challenge us before. It'll be known as the Nightmare for all the best reasons.
